Cascadia Energy is a Zambian-registered energy company with a mandate to supply, trade and invest in electricity infrastructure within the Southern African Power Pool. Headquartered in Lusaka, we combine deep local knowledge with institutional-grade governance to operate at the highest standards in the region.
We draw on the Brookfield playbook — long-term ownership, operational excellence and deep local partnerships — to build a business that creates lasting value for our shareholders, partners and the communities we serve across southern, central and east Africa.

Our Origin
Our Origin
Cascadia Energy was established in response to a clear market gap: the absence of an independent, institutionally governed energy trading and supply platform in the SAPP region. While the pool's Day-Ahead Market had matured significantly, participation remained dominated by national utilities with limited appetite for commercial risk and innovation.
Our founders saw an opportunity to build a private sector counterparty — one that could bring liquidity, price discovery and commercial discipline to the regional market, while also developing the generation and storage assets the region desperately needs.

Oversees financial strategy, capital structure, investor relations and regulatory financial reporting. Brings 20 years of infrastructure finance experience across Africa and emerging markets.
Manages Cascadia's SAPP Day-Ahead Market participation, bilateral contracts and counterparty risk framework. Former energy trader at a leading European commodity house with African operations.
Navigates the regulatory landscape across ZESCO, ERB, SAPP and RERA to ensure full compliance and licensing. Former senior counsel at the Energy Regulation Board of Zambia.
Leads origination, development and financing of Cascadia's generation and storage project pipeline. Brings experience from IFC, DBSA and leading African project developers.
Oversees Cascadia's ESG strategy, climate risk management, community engagement and sustainability reporting. Formerly with the UNDP and a leading African development finance institution.

Our Base
Zambia & the Region
Zambia sits at the geographic and strategic heart of the SAPP. With borders touching eight countries and a well-developed transmission network anchored by ZESCO, Zambia is uniquely positioned as a transit and trading hub for regional power flows.
Cascadia's Lusaka headquarters gives us direct access to the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), ZESCO, the Ministry of Energy and the SAPP Coordination Centre. We are building relationships with utilities, regulators and development partners across Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, the DRC, Malawi and beyond.
Zambia's energy sector is undergoing a structural transformation — from a ZESCO-dominated, hydro-dependent system to a diversified, market-oriented sector with growing private sector participation. Cascadia is positioned to be a leading beneficiary and driver of this transformation.
